Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes what information the SEOMate browser extension ("we", "us", or "our") collects, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

A. Account Identity (Google Sign-In)

SEOMate requires you to sign in with your Google account. When you sign in, we receive and store the following from Google:

  • Your Google account ID (a permanent numeric identifier assigned by Google)
  • Your display name
  • Your email address
  • Your profile picture URL

This information is stored on our secure backend server and is used solely to manage your account, credit balance, and generation history. We do not sell or share this information with third parties beyond what is described in Section 3.

B. Image and Page Context

To generate SEO metadata, the extension accesses:

  • The URL of the image you right-click
  • The page URL and page title of the tab you are on
  • Meta keywords present on the page (if any)

This data is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our backend and forwarded to OpenAI for processing. It is not stored after the request completes, except for the image URL, which is saved as part of your generation history (see below).

C. Generation History

We store your 3 most recent SEO generations. For each generation, we store:

  • The image URL analyzed
  • The generated meta title, meta description, alt text, file name, and tags
  • The date and time of generation

Older entries are automatically deleted when a new generation is created, up to a limit of 3.

D. Payment Information

We use Gumroad to sell credit packs. When you purchase credits:

  • You receive a unique license key from Gumroad via email
  • You enter this key manually in the extension to redeem your credits
  • We verify the key with Gumroad's API and record the sale ID in our database

We do not collect, see, or store your credit card number or any payment details. All payment processing is handled entirely by Gumroad.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Authentication: To verify your identity via Google Sign-In and link your credits and history to your account.
  • Service Delivery: To process your image through OpenAI and return generated SEO metadata.
  • Credit Management: To track your remaining credits and deduct one per successful generation.
  • History: To display your three most recent generations within the extension.
  • License Verification: To confirm Gumroad purchase validity before adding credits.

3. Third-Party Services

We utilize trusted third-party services to operate the extension. Data shared with these providers is strictly for functional purposes:

Gumroad Payments License key and product ID We never see your credit card. Gumroad handles all PCI-compliant payment processing and only shares the success of your license key with us
Render Backend Hosting All transit data Render is SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR compliant. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ as it passes through their infrastructure
Neon Database Account data and history Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL cloud. Neon utilizes AES-256 encryption at rest and isolated VPCs to ensure your data is never accessible to other users

4. Data Retention

  • Account Data: Retained as long as your account exists.
  • Generation History: Only the three most recent generations are retained; older generations are automatically deleted.
  • Image/Page Content: Not stored beyond what appears in generation history (image URL only).
  • Payment Records: Sale IDs from Gumroad are retained for fraud prevention and accounting.

5. Your Rights

Because we collect your Google account information, you can be identified. You have the right to:

  • Access your data: Contact us to request a copy of what we store about your account.
  • Delete your data: Contact us to permanently delete your account and all associated data. Note that uninstalling the extension alone does not delete your server-side data.
  • Revoke Google access: You can remove SEOMate's access to your Google account at any time via Google Security Settings.
